Flea Market Finds

June 7th, 2009

My friend Clayton and I headed to the Alameda Flea Market today to do a little treasure hunting.  Here are today’s findings…

box

My grandmother gave me a charm for every birthday growing up, so I think I might put those in this little box.

horse

I have a thing for birds and horses.

Clayton found four amazing exterior light fixtures made from galvanized steel.  He is going to make them into street lamps by attaching them to 4×4 or 6×6 pieces of reclaimed wood.  Will look great in his loft-y apartment.

Can’t wait for next month.

while in new york

i stumbled upon the rug company

it was a bright, massive warehouse

and the walls were covered in colorful, graphic, unique pieces of what looked like art.

Patternize!

May 15th, 2009

Madeline Weinrib in New York sells some wonderful, graphic area rugs in all sorts of bright and muted and more subdued colors.  These were some of my favorites, which come in many other colors.  We have used these in the past for nurseries but I can also see them in a living room or an office to add some color and interest to the room.  Some of the more subdued colorways could be nice to add a little pattern to a monotoned master bedroom.   Check out her website www.madelineweinrib.com for more inspiration!  Best part?  These fabulous floor coverings are gently priced.weinrib31ikat-runner

Inlay your Living Room

April 27th, 2009

ottomanThere are times during family holidays when many people will be in your home and your living room will require more seating.  Little ottomans like this are the answer!  Put a couple of these in front of the fireplace or tuck them under a console table for that extra seating.  When they are not being used, the shell inlay will add a little bit of interest to the room.  Check out some more shell-inlayed furniture at wunderley.com.  They’ve got some great mirrors and wonderful large trays to place on a coffee table or large ottoman.

I’m a Fan

April 23rd, 2009

fanAttractive ceiling fans are hard to come by.  The one company I seem to always turn to for premier and contemporary options is the Modern Fan Company.  The Altus fan shown to the right is an attractive and sophisticated fan that works well in really any interior.  I have used these in previous projects and they seem to disappear in the room.  You don’t want the fan to be the statement in the room, you want it to function well and blend in with your interior.  This is my best suggestion for a fan that meets both of these objectives.
